New Update: Announcing the Four Attachment Distress Responses Quiz and Course
https://www.alanrobarge.com/adrquiz
Many of us want to know how to heal, how to change, how to be more secure, etc. This is why I created the course: The Four Attachment Distress Responses. You’re invited to take the quiz and learn about your Response.
Many of our behaviors in relationships are habitual meaning we act out of autopilot. Our autopilot Response comes from past conditioning of negative experiences. When attachment injuries go unaddressed, we become insecure in our relationships.
The Four Attachment Distress Responses Course describes each specific type of guardedness, which means how we try to protect ourselves from getting hurt again while attempting to get our attachment needs met.
While we cannot change the past, we can change how we respond in the moment and in the future. This course offers you insights and tools as new ways to respond in your relationships. The Four Responses are Poking, Running, Hiding, and Submitting.
Check out the quiz to learn more: See link above.

As an AttachmentFocused Psychotherapist, I teach and promote a model of SelfDirected Healing, which translates into a model of selfempowerment. We’re strengthening your ability to advocate for yourself. As Selfhealers, we take a holistic approach. This means we advocate for your mental health, your personal growth, and your overall wellbeing. It means you are in the driver seat of your own care.
_________
In this video, I talk about the universal experience of grieving our losses due to the realities of impermanence. We will lose many people, places, and things throughout our lifetime. For this reason, grieving is normal.
If you grew up in a dysfunctional family home where there was chronic tension and struggle, you were preconditioned to orient to the disappointments of life. For many of us our childhood losses were folded into our development and grew into our personality structures, so that viewing the world through the lens of grief and loss have become our norm. We orient and/or live inside our own grief \”realm.\”
Therefore, healing includes not only saying goodbye to the people, places, experiences, things, or objects that we lost, but also saying goodbye to living within the realm of grief itself. Through maturing, we expand beyond the familiar world we know and move into other perspectives and ways of being.
Aha moments are flashes of clarity that help us move beyond the confines of our habituated reality, presenting us with new possibilities. We don’t have to live saddled by so much grief for the duration of our entire lifetime. We are changing. Our relationship to grieving is changing. We learn new perspectives and ways to orient to the world around us when we grieve grieving.
